RNA – Administering Authority (FuelEU Maritime)
Romanian Naval Authority (RNA) is the competent authority responsible for implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1805 on the use of renewable and low-carbon fuels in maritime transport (FuelEU Maritime) in Romania.
FuelEU Maritime is a key European Union initiative designed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the maritime sector by promoting the use of renewable and low-carbon fuels and encouraging the adoption of cleaner energy technologies. The Regulation establishes progressively stricter limits on the greenhouse gas intensity of energy used on board ships calling at ports under the jurisdiction of EU Member States.
As Romanian Administering State, RNA supports shipping companies allocated to Romania in fulfilling their obligations under Regulation (EU) 2023/1805. The Authority monitors compliance, administers the FuelEU Maritime process, cooperates with accredited verifiers, the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) and the European Commission, and provides guidance and assistance to stakeholders.
